In the United States, the National Missing & Unidentified Persons System reports that over 600,000 individuals are reported missing yearly. Alarmingly, 40% of these missing persons are Black, with a significant portion—33% of this group—being young people under the age of 18. This statistic is particularly distressing considering that Black Americans constitute only 13% of the nation’s population. The disproportionate number of missing Black individuals highlights a critical issue that demands our attention and action.
At Black Lives Missing Voice, our mission is to spotlight the stories of missing Black men, women, and children, ensuring they remain in our collective consciousness. By sharing their stories, we aim to spark recognition or recollection that could lead to their safe return, providing their families with closure and peace. Our commitment is to keep these individuals at the forefront of our efforts, advocating for awareness and change to reunite families and restore communities.
